Hoekstra a No for U.S. Senate

Former U.S. Representative from the 2nd Congressional District  Pete Hoekstra announced on Friday via e-mail that he will not be a candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2012.  In the statement Hoekstra  said  “Diane and I have made the decision that I will not be a candidate for the United States Senate in 2012,”  he went on to say that.  “This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make as we saw strong points both for and against running.  However, in our final analysis, we agreed that it was not in the best interest of our family at this time to enter the race.”

President signs 1099 Form Repeal

Thursday, President Obama signed the repeal of the 1099 form tax reporting requirements that was a part of the health-care bill. The provision would have required all businesses to submit the form to any vendor from whom they had purchased goods or services totaling $600 or more in a tax year. You should check with your accountant to see if you qualify to file these forms under the previous requirements.
