Treasury To Hold Harmless Business Taxpayers Experiencing Online Filing Troubles

The State of Michigan’s Department of Treasury transitioned to a new online portal for various business filings, including the State’s Sales, Use and Withholding Taxes.

Many business owners have been frustrated with a number of errors that have occurred during their attempts at filing online, including many who have been unable to file by the February 20th deadline.

In light of these difficulties, the Department of Treasury issued a memo explaining the situation and assuring taxpayers who have been unable to file due to system errors or difficulties that they will be held harmless and not assessed penalty and interest.
