PPT Ballot Proposal Designated As “Proposal 1” – Vote YES

Vote ‘Yes’ on Prop 1

The Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance supports Michigan Citizens for Strong and Safe Communities’ campaign to pass the Personal Property Tax (PPT) ballot proposal on the Aug. 5 primary ballot.

Recently, the question was officially designated Proposal 1 by the Board of State Canvassers. It would eliminate the personal property levy on small businesses and eventually for large manufacturers. Revenues from the PPT will be fully replenished by an Essential Service Assessment on large manufacturers and through expiring tax credits. You can also show your support for Proposal 1 by signing up at this link.

The Alliance encourages all its members to sign up as public supporters as early as possible – because this proposal benefits job providers in our area and is critical to creating a strong business environment in northern Michigan. And remember to encourage those that you know to “Vote YES” on Proposal 1 on Aug. 5.
