One Size Does Not Fit All
The Senate K-12 Appropriations Subcommittee last week approved boosting the foundation allowance by at least $104 per pupil in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 budget. Districts at the lowest funding level would see a $208 per student increase if this proposal moves forward. This would follow the 2x formula funding that the Alliance has been calling for. This is certainly not the final step in the Chamber Alliance fight for equitable funding but it is a great start!
We tip our hats to our local legislators, specifically Chair, Senator Howard Walker (R-Traverse City). Contact Senator Walker’s office and thank him for his work. Don’t let up on your continued advocacy for this issue – we need your support and voice, it obviously helps.
Contact Your Legislators and Tell Them They Need to Continue to Fight for Equitable Funding for our Schools. This is an Economic Development Issue for our Region.
