MDOT Director Kirk Stuedle kicked off the Northern Michigan Regional Transportation meeting at the Grand Traverse Resort on October 3rd. The Director spoke about the future opportunities and are we ready for a increase of up to 1 billion tons of new product that will move across and around Michigan in the next decade. He says we can be if we start now and prepare and build the infrastructure we need. The meeting continued with specific speakers on private and public partnerships, air, surface, rail and water. The opportunities we have and how we can move beyond our challenges. We have several immediate opportunities both in surface and rail connecting to the ports in Montreal and Halifax. Those ports move product faster which save businesses time and money.
